What does ELPA21 mean for you?
ELPA21 is focused on four key audiences: administrators, educators, parents and students. The assessment system measures the progress of English language learner (ELL) students toward English language proficiency based on the new English Language Proficiency (ELP) Standards. Parents, educators, and administrators will be better able to assess student progress and support ELL students and their families and communities in preparing for college and career success. The ELPA21 assessment system benefits the key audiences because it provides online delivery, incorporates technology-enhanced items that allow students to respond in ways other than the traditional selection of an answer from a multiple-choice list; incorporates more interactive item styles, especially for speaking and listening tests; reduces the turnaround time on reporting results; improves the efficiency of data collection and management; and reduces administrative burdens on school and district staff.
